In the HMI editor Unified-E App Designer, HMI visualizations can be easily created and customized. Many customers have confirmed to us that working with this tool is a lot of fun and that it is one step ahead of the competitors!
The Unified-E App Designer supports all functions of a modern graphical editor. It simplifies the graphical design of user interfaces (views) through easy drag & drop of configurable view elements. The selection and handling of all relevant functional elements and views are supported by the clearly structured editor area 'Project Navigation'.
In the main editor, the views for configuration are displayed, for example, for visualizing data in the form of lists or charts. HMI functions such as push notifications, which should be sent in case of important events like machine alarms, are also defined in the main editor.

The following main functions are available for designing the operator app or displaying data:
The Unified-E App Designer is not only suitable for configuring stationary, large HMI panels but is also particularly well-suited for creating visualizations on smartphones. A smartphone or Android HMI device can directly communicate with an OPC UA or Modbus server—without requiring an additional server instance or a stationary control panel.
If the smartphone HMI should also receive alarm notifications, the Unified-E App Manager software is required. This software acts as an on-site server installed on a PC within the facility.
For complex HMI topics, predefined view elements such as a recipe table or message table are available, allowing for very individual configuration. Many more possibilities are also described under Functions.
Once the HMI visualization or operator app has been configured, it needs to be published. In the Unified-E App Designer, the 'Publish' function generates an app package file based on the configuration. Depending on the use case or communication type, this package can then be installed either on the operator device using the Unified-E Client or on the gateway server using the Unified-E App Manager.
The Unified-E App Designer is free to use. Only runtime licenses for execution on operator devices are subject to a fee. Execution on operator devices is possible without a license for development purposes (in direct communication mode) or with a free developer license (for gateway communication) – see also Pricing & Licenses.
