Haven’t you always wanted to keep an eye on your plant anytime, anywhere - without relying solely on SMS or email alarms?
With Unified-E as part of your Industrial IoT (IIoT) solution, you can conveniently monitor all critical process data on your smartphone, receive real-time alarms via push notifications, and react immediately to critical events. This saves valuable time, reduces stress, and enhances operational safety.
Setting up your remote monitoring via the internet with Unified-E is incredibly simple - no complex firewall or router configurations required. The Unified-E App Manager (HMI server) provides live access to plant data, secure remote operation (if enabled), and reliable real-time alarms via the cloud.
Easily create your remote HMI using the Unified-E App Designer - perfect for stationary, mobile, or hybrid solutions. You decide whether to optimize the layout specifically for mobile devices or keep the stationary view for large displays with scrollbars.
Use your smartphone or tablet as part of your IIoT strategy - either as a supplement to an existing operator panel or as a standalone HMI. Simply download the Unified-E Client from the store and register your configured HMI app in the Unified-E App Manager.
Now you're ready to go on your Android or iOS device!
The App Manager is installed directly near the plant on a Windows computer and functions as a gateway between smartphones and PLCs or other endpoints (learn more about Gateway Communication).
The smartphone HMI is often used as an additional interface for monitoring and controlling plants and operator stations. The existing visualization on stationary operator panels does not need to be replaced or modified - Unified-E is ideal as an autonomous additional HMI for remote monitoring.
In some applications, the mobile HMI on tablets or smartphones even serves as the sole control solution - without requiring a stationary operator panel.
The Unified-E App Manager, installed on a PC near the plant, offers a powerful alarm management system: In case of errors, malfunctions, or threshold violations, you receive an instant push notification on your smartphone, allowing you to respond in real time. This helps prevent plant downtime, improves OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and enhances productivity according to the principles of Smart Manufacturing. Unified-E is ideally suited for industrial automation and process automation environments.
Additionally, pending alarms can be displayed clearly within the HMI operator app using a configurable alarm message table in tile mode - ensuring maximum readability and quick orientation.
Setting up smartphone-based monitoring with Unified-E is intentionally simple: Your HMI visualization can be easily configured using the Unified-E App Designer, which is available for free in the download section.
The Unified-E App Manager is installed on a Windows PC as a central IIoT interface. This PC manages communication with your mobile devices and remote alerting.
For licensing the Unified-E App Manager, you only need a single Gateway License that covers your entire application. For development purposes, you can use the free Developer License.
For continuous operation, three license types are available for remote monitoring with a smartphone:
Detailed information on license types and pricing can be found under Pricing.
Your visualization can be conveniently configured using the Unified-E App Designer. This tool is available for free and enables intuitive design for smartphone and tablet HMIs.
A mid-range PC - typically equipped with an Intel i5 processor - is generally sufficient to support a smaller number of smartphones or tablets.
