Unified-E consists of several software applications as well as endpoint adapters (communication drivers) for connecting to PLC controllers, SQL databases, and other systems.
An overview of how the core applications – HMI Editor, HMI Server, and the client application for HMI devices – work together is provided in the software overview.
For a quick introduction, the Getting Started guide is available.
With the HMI editor, you create the specific HMI application for your machine or plant.
For more information, see Unified‑E App Designer.
3.1.3.0 (03/18/2025)
Performance improvements when reading datapoints from ControlLogix/Allen-Bradley controllers. Minor bug fixes.
System requirements
License
The HMI editor Unified-E App Designer is generally license-free – no license keys are required. Unified-E only uses runtime licenses per HMI device, which are only needed for actual operation (e.g., in production).
Licensing depends on the use case and is done either in the Unified-E App Manager or the Unified-E Client.
The Unified-E App Manager is an HMI server application that must be installed on the gateway PC. This application is optional and only required when using gateway communication. The main use cases for the HMI server are mobile remote monitoring and plant operation with multiple HMI devices.
For more information, see Unified‑E App Manager.
3.1.3.0 (03/18/2025)
Performance improvements when reading datapoints from ControlLogix/Allen-Bradley controllers.
System requirements
License
A free developer license is available for development purposes. For productive operation, gateway licenses are available and can be purchased under Licenses and Pricing.
The Unified-E Client is the runtime application for your HMI operator devices (Android, iOS & Windows). Install the Unified-E Client on the respective panel, tablet, or smartphone to launch, operate, and monitor an HMI visualization created in the App Designer.
For more information, see Unified‑E Client.
This application is to be installed on Windows-based HMI devices to run the HMI visualization (operator app). The full-screen mode feature allows for stationary HMIs with touchscreen input.
3.1.3.0 (03/18/2025)
Performance improvements when reading datapoints from ControlLogix/Allen-Bradley controllers.
System requirements
License
When using gateway communication, no licensing is required on the operator device – licensing is handled centrally via the Unified-E App Manager.
For direct communication, operator apps can be used free of charge for 48 hours after registration for development purposes. For continuous operation, a direct license is required and can be purchased under Licenses and Pricing.
This application is to be installed on Android devices such as smartphones, tablets, or HMI panels running Android in order to run the HMI visualization (operator app). The installation is done via Google Play.
For Android devices without GMS certification (no Google Play), the APK file can be downloaded here for installation directly on the Android device.
3.1.1.0 (03/18/2025)

This application is to be installed on iOS devices such as iPhones or iPads in order to run the HMI visualization (operator app). The installation is done via the App Store.

No separate download is required for communication with PLCs and other data sources. All necessary endpoint adapters and communication drivers are already integrated into the software. For more information, see Communication Drivers.
