Unified‑E

Our Solution

What is Unified‑E?

The open HMI software - Simple, with smartphone support and powerful recipe management

With Unified-E, we offer a powerful HMI system that allows customers in industrial automation to configure machine interfaces individually - without sacrificing SCADA features like SQL logging. Operation is flexible across smartphones, Windows devices, or industrial Android HMIs. Use your smartphone or tablet as part of your Industrial IoT strategy for remote monitoring and real-time alarm notifications.

Why Unified‑E for Your HMI Solution

Innovative features that will revolutionize your HMI creation

Versatile Layout Options

From smartphone to supervisor HMI display: With panel elements, scrollbar support, and responsive layouts for designing HMI views, you have maximum flexibility.

Simplicity Despite Extensive Features

The HMI editor Unified‑E App Designer is intuitive to use, despite the many optional features such as alarms, user management, recipe management, trend logging, triggers, or scripts.

Easy Integration into Corporate IT

With built-in OPC UA, SQL, and HTTP communication drivers, your HMI application can store process data directly in databases or ERP systems. Large datasets can be visualized using charts or tables - ideal for a production dashboard. This ensures that key SCADA features are seamlessly integrated into your Smart Factory environment.

Easy Monitoring and Alarming on your Mobile Device

Leverage the HMI server functions as part of your Industrial IoT (IIoT) strategy for remote monitoring via smartphone: With the Unified‑E App Manager, operator devices can easily control and monitor the plant remotely via the Internet. In case of an alarm, push notifications can be sent directly to the smartphone.

Direct Communication Without Server Possible

The Unified‑E Clients are available for Windows, iOS, and Android devices and also allow direct communication between the operator device and the connected endpoints such as PLC controllers. Thus, communication with OPC-UA, Modbus, Allen Bradley or Siemens S7 PLC controllers is possible even without a server or additional hardware. Stationary or mobile machine control HMI apps or even HMI apps for Android and iPhone can be implemented with ease.

Universal Recipe Management

The recipe management is highly scalable and even covers the requirements from production in regulated environments such as GAMP/FDA. For example, there are versioned datasets, user permissions, or an integrated process history display.

Simple, Affordable, and Open Licensing Model

Unified-E is developer-friendly - free for development and evaluation purposes. A license is only required for operational use - one per operator device. Learn more about licenses and pricing here. Get started now and download the tools from the downloads section!

Unified‑E HMI Software for Machine Control

Create your own HMI application in a few steps

With our Unified‑E HMI Software, you can create an HMI application in a few steps, which can then be operated in full-screen mode on a Windows computer or on an iOS or Android device.

  • Configure HMI app in HMI editor

    Step 1:

    Create operator app

You configure your individual HMI application (operator app) in the free HMI editor Unified‑E App Designer.

  • Publish HMI app on HMI server, Unified-E App Manager

    Step 2:

    Publish operator app on server

    This step is optional.

The operator app is published on the Unified‑E App Manager on the gateway PC to enable secure gateway communication via the internet or to manage certain data such as recipes or event history centrally. The gateway PC becomes the server.

This step is not necessary for direct communication between the operator device and the PLC controllers (endpoints).

  • Register HMI app on smartphone

    Step 3:

    Install on the operator device

Then, the operator app is installed on mobile operator devices using the client software (Unified‑E app from the app store).

For Windows operator devices, the operator app is launched with the Unified‑E App Client for Windows.

Trust our many years of experience

Unified‑E AG is a software development company based in Winterthur, Switzerland, and the provider of the HMI software Unified‑E. We have been working in the field of HMI visualizations for industrial plants and machines, as well as building automation, for over 15 years.

The Unified‑E product first appeared at the SPS trade fair in 2016 with the Mobile-First paradigm. Since then, the HMI software has been enhanced with numerous features and is now used by well-known customers - for example, for mobile remote monitoring, stationary machine control via HMI, or plant operation.

In addition, Unified‑E AG offers another HMI product called "WIT-HMI". This is a code-based framework that allows for the development of highly individual HMI applications, for example, for medical technology. You can learn more about it on the product website www.wit-hmi.com.
